ICA works with community based workforce development agencies and social entrepreneurs to start and accelerate the development of alternative staffing organizations. Alternative staffing organizations (ASOs) act as intermediaries between employers and job seekers, helping employers attract and retain reliable, motivated workers and linking job seekers to competitive employment, opportunities for skills development and pathways to hire by employer customers. The rise of temporary staffing and other forms of contingent work present enormous challenges for workers in the US, yet the industry is here to stay. Firms rely on the flexibility temporary staffing brings and today temporary staffing firms have become the de-facto job intermediary for a huge portion of the workforce. Given this reality, ICA has been working for over 10 years to provide an alternative within the industry through the development of numerous socially driven ASOs and in our role leading the Alternative Staffing Alliance. We work with community based organizations looking to leverage their workforce training programs into viable social enterprises.
ICA is uniquely qualified to help organizations exploring this model. We have helped start over five social purpose staffing firms and through the Alternative Staffing Alliance have assisted dozens of ASOs on issues large and small. We have an unparalleled understanding of what it takes to make these social ventures succeed. We help organizations test the feasibility of an ASO in their market, and if viable, work with partners on bringing the project to market.
