Machine Shops & Other Small Manufacturers
Due to their small size, most machine shops face stiff competition for larger contracts and have difficulty maintaining enough capacity. Yet, these small employers are integral to the communities where they operate. Through the conversion of these firms to worker cooperatives and the establishment of purchasing cooperatives built off these new coops, we can help save these small employers while also creating new opportunities for younger workers as re-shoring of advanced manufacturing firms continues. This initiative will be very geographically focused, first in Massachusetts and Connecticut, then replicated in other areas with heavy concentration of similar firms.
